How To Prep Yourself To Totally Escape Work On Vacation
If you want to totally disconnect while on vacation and focus only on the vacation itself, I understand. Here’s a few ways you can do that and still be in control and know what’s going with your internet business.
(The following information is focused more on internet businesses that deal with blogging sites or certain affiliate marketing sites. There may be some ideas that could work for other internet businesses as well.)
- Hire an assistant and train them to be just like you, but take care of all the things before hand and layout an action plan for them to do day by day. Start early when you look to hire someone for this task, because you may have to try out a few people before you can totally trust them to run your sites.
- If you are a blogging business that has a blog that makes your income flow, then double and triple up on all the work necessary in advanced and schedule things to post throughout your trip. (side note, don’t schedule posts to publish at the same time everyday. I’ve heard that google will think that it’s too unnatural and think you are an automated program scraping content out there and it could hurt your seo rankings). Another non-automated option would be to save all your posts as drafts and have someone post them for you once a day, but I would personally log into my account on my cell phone and do the publishing from there, or use the automated scheduling that WordPress allows.
- If you haven’t started your internet business yet and have a little time before your vacation, you could also make a site that is “low” maintenance, but powerful in the way that it has a good flow of traffic and runs itself without having to do any work. These sites usually take a little longer to make and gain momentum, but they work wonderfully for those of us who are willing to put a lot of effort early and not do a lot of work later.
Here’s the interesting thing I found about most internet marketers, we can never really disconnect from “thinking” about our business, even when on vacation. We “think differently” all the time looking for ideas naturally. If you start a site and get serious about it for a few months, you’ll see what I mean. The cool thing about thinking about your businesses all the time is that it’s not a burden, it actually makes life more exciting because your eyes are opened to more possibilities. If you’re not doing it, take the leap! Maybe your next vacation will be a lot more fun and profitable than ever before because of your changing mindset!
Good luck!
