Impatience & Laziness Kills Internet Business Possibilities
So there you have it… Most people will fail at building an internet business because the reward will not come soon enough for them. People want “instant gratification”. They don’t want to wait for anything and want the “Get Rich Quick” promises that never comes. Even King Solomon (the richest and wisest man who ever lived) said, “Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it.” (Proverbs 13:11 ESV)
My First Penny
When I started my internet businesses, it took me 4 months of working at it full-time before I made my first penny. You would have thought I won the lottery the day I made only ONE CENT. My wife thought I was crazy (and she was actually quite mad) for spending those 4 months unemployed and building websites, only to make a penny after working 12 hours a day for 4 months. To me, that first penny was a breakthrough. Even if it was only a penny, it proved to me that it worked. These were the “good ol’ days” of the internet where it was a lot harder than it is today. Sites took a lot longer to get listed in Google and Yahoo, sometimes a few months. Today, sites can show up in Google after a day or two of being built. It’s never been easier. The best tools to build websites today are free and are very easy to learn. If you can write emails that include attachments and are familiar with a word processor type program (like Microsoft Word), you can build websites.
FEAR?!? You’ve Got Nothing TO Fear or Risk
There is so much free information on web on how to make money on the internet, you really do not need to spend much to get started. I worked briefly for a company that hired me to be an internet business coach for their school. They had no “real” curriculum set and people paid anywhere from $500 to $5000 for my coaching and they all got the same education no matter what they paid the school. It didn’t take long for my conscience to get the better of me regarding their program and how they gave people the expectation that I would be able to make students a million dollars or more by then end of their coursework. Some of these people had a problem with spelling spelling or writing a complete sentence without slang. Needless to say, they bought in with expectations that were not realistic and I was not supposed to tell them that. Actually, truth be told, I really believed I could teach them to make an income on the internet and opened myself to help them in anyway possible, even giving them my home and cell phone numbers. Sadly, most never did the work, even when I tried to hold them accountable with weekly scheduled calls and they could call me anytime they needed me.
